March 30 & 31, 2019

Musical Masterworks featured the beautiful sounds of the classical guitar in the marvelous acoustic of the First Congregational Church, as we celebrated the Old Lyme debut of guitarist Colin Davin, in collaboration with perennial Musical Masterworks’ favorite violinist Tessa Lark.

Davin, hailed for his “virtuoso’s technique [and] deeply expressive musicianship” (American Record Guide), has emerged as one of today’s most dynamic young artists.  The performances explored the breadth of the guitar-violin-cello repertoire, from Bach to the 20th-century works of Spanish and South American composers.

“Musical Masterworks has become one of the premier presenters in New England of top-flight musicians taking on daring pieces in an acoustically stunning venue, and on Saturday the young guitar virtuoso Colin Davin became the latest to make his name known among local audiences.”  Read more of what Lee Howard from The Day had to say in his review published on March 30, 2019.
