Musical Masterworks and Community Music School are pleased to announce the recipient of the second annual Musical Masterworks Scholarship in Honor of Nancy D. Thomas.

Emmett Roswech was recently presented with the scholarship by Alden Murphy, President of Musical Masterworks and Abigail Nickell, Executive Director of Community Music School. Emmet has studied at Community Music School for five years.  In addition to his violin lessons with Marianna Kiss, he participates in a variety of CMS ensembles, master classes, and performances. “Emmet is a young violinist of truly exceptional talent.  We are so pleased to honor Nancy’s memory with this award, in partnership with another of her most beloved arts organizations.’ said Abigail.  Nancy Thomas was a devoted staff member of Musical Masterworks for nearly 25 years.   “Bravo to CMS for having and nurturing such a brilliant young talent. We are thrilled to be able to provide for his tuition fees for this coming year – what a privilege for Musical Masterworks to be associated with such a young prodigy,” remarked Alden.

Emmett has twice attended Boston University Tanglewood Institute’s Junior Strings Intensive and has had the opportunity to take part in several summer Suzuki Institutes. This fall he will join The Hartt School Community Division’s advanced string orchestra, Opus ’89. As recipient of the Musical Masterworks Scholarship in honor of Nancy D. Thomas, Emmett will study composition and improvisation with Tom Briggs. In addition to his musical studies, Emmett plays ice hockey and enjoys mountain biking.
