What a memorable evening

07/08/15

It was a memorable evening at the annual Musical Masterworks “Evening with Edward Arron” recently held at Old Black Point.

During the intimate concert, husband and wife team Ed Arron, Musical Masterworks’ charismatic young Artistic Director, and his dazzlingly talented wife Jeewon Park, performed two excerpts from Beethoven’s magnificent Complete Works for Piano and Cello — a preview of what they will perform at their February 2016 concerts. The marriage of the two instruments allowed us to feel not only the love shared between Ed and Jeewon, but also their love for the music they make together. The Valentine weekend 2016, will be the perfect time for a fascinating romantic musical journey that will cover the arc of Beethoven’s career. The two different programs, on Saturday evening Feb13 and Sunday afternoon Feb 14, will include three charming sets of variations and five monumental sonatas.

After this moving performance, we said a heartfelt and emotional thank you to Jon Butler, outgoing President of Musical Masterworks for the last four years, and to Pam Allen Hunter for her 17 years as Administrative Director. Jamie Murphy, one of the founders of Musical Masterworks, recited an artfully rhymed tribute to Jon to thank him for his leadership during the last four years.

We welcomed Alden Rockwell Murphy as our new President, and look forward to the passion and enthusiasm that she brings as we begin celebrating our 25th season.

Are you wondering how you can attend next year’s “Evening with Edward Arron?” An invitation to this special event is a benefit reserved for donors at the Maestro and Impresario levels and for our concert sponsors as a way for us to thank them for their support.
