December 7 & 8, 2019
Musical Masterworks was delighted to welcome back world-renowned artists – flutist Tara Helen O’Connor, pianist Adam Neiman, who joined cellist Edward Arron – for a virtuosic and vividly colorful December program.
Neiman began the program with Chopin’s beloved E-Major Scherzo for Solo Piano; O’Connor and Arron joined forces for the fiery romp, The Jet Whistle, by Villa-Lobos; next Neiman and Arron rendered the hauntingly beautiful Air for Cello and Piano, composed in 2004 by Pulitzer Prize winner Kevin Puts; and the three will came together for two magnificent trios: the youthful and romantic G Major Trio by Debussy, and the sparkling and soulful e minor Trio by the extraordinary 19th century composer, Louise Farrenc.
Chopin: Scherzo in E Major for Solo Piano, Opus 54
Villa-Lobos: Assobio a Játo (The Jet Whistle) for Flute and Cello
Debussy: Trio in g minor
Kevin Puts: Air for Cello and Piano (2004)
Farrenc: Trio in e minor, Opus 45
Many thanks to Burnett’s Landscaping for sponsoring Saturday’s concert and to Ted and Rebecca Crosby for sponsoring Sunday’s concert.
