Musical Masterworks Whimsical Fairy Door on Lyme Street

10/01/20

We are so excited by our whimsical Fairy door on display as part of Old Lyme Arts District’s Fairy Doors on Lyme Street! We are delighted that one of Musical Masterworks’ Honorary Directors, Jon Butler, lent us his aesthetic expertise to design and build this musically themed door. It’s not only in honor of Musical Masterworks, but also a tiny celebration of all the great music that emanates from the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme.  And it’s a tribute to the leadership of FCCOL’s Director of Music, Simon Holt as well as to our Artistic Director at Musical Masterworks, Edward Arron.  The door is made mostly of recycled parts: the arm of a broken bench, driftwood, and old throwaway cedar shingles from the houses of dear Musical Masterworks friends, Lecia Harbison and Claudia Thompson.

You may find it at the base of the tree at the corner of Lyme Street and Ferry Road.
