Musical Masterworks welcomes back world-renowned artists – flutist Tara Helen O’Connor, pianist Adam Neiman, and cellist Edward Arron – for a virtuosic and vividly colorful program at Old Lyme’s First Congregational Church on Saturday, December 7 at 5pm and Sunday, December 8 at 3pm.
Neiman will begin the program with Chopin’s beloved E-Major Scherzo for Solo Piano; O’Connor and Arron will join forces for the fiery romp, The Jet Whistle, by Villa-Lobos; Neiman and Arron will render the hauntingly beautiful Air for Cello and Piano, composed in 2004 by Pulitzer Prize winner Kevin Puts; and the three will come together for two magnificent trios: the youthful and romantic G Major Trio by Debussy, and the sparkling and soulful e minor Trio by the extraordinary 19th century composer, Louise Farrenc.
